The Hon. President participating at the prize-giving ceremony of the Panadura Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya yesterday said that browsing the Facebook is not a favourable activity for schoolgoing children in Sri Lanka. He further requested that trust should not be placed on the Facebook which has now become an epidemic. He explained this point as follows:
"I went to parliament when I was young. However much work I had those days ... I attended lectures at Law College and studied Law too. So ... do your work without wasting time ... keep away from unnecessary things. It's true that we should learn Technology ... but this thing called Facebook is not such a good thing. This is not only an epidemic to us ... but also to the children. We can close these things ... there are methods for that. But we have no trust in doing that with the help of the Law ... we have a trust in you daughters ... your upbringing is important to us. Those whom we see at home are more important to us than whom we do not see in the Facebook. Therefore, don't keep that much of a trust on what you get from Facebook".
