MALAKA SILVA’S FANTASSY LIFE

Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka Silva is a typical example of a playboy son of a wealthy politician in the current modern Sri Lanka. 
Although he had wanted to study up to Advanced level,he had given up half way and had gone to a Western country for a course in graphics designing had abandoned half way and returned without a diploma/degree in his preferred field. 
Without a specific aim he is presently involved in various activities. His main hobby is going to night clubs and changing vehicles. 
These are his normal ways.
He has eight private body guards and possess a vehicle valued at around Rs 400 lacks. 
He is not worried about his Minister father is blamed or attacked.

“I did my O/levels, but did not do A/levels Then proceeded to America for 2 years. Did a course in ‘graphic designing’, where I did not complete the entire course. Then I went to Australia where too I did ‘graphic designing”, but did not complete my degree or diploma having stopped half way.”

What is the job you did in America?
“Worked in an electronic shop , part time”.

What is your source of income?
“I run a car sales centre. With my contacts I do small business with personnel abroad. I intend opening a restaurant soon.”

What is the vehicle you are using now?
“I have a craze for vehicles. I possess Posche, Benz and Range Rower vehicles. There are only two cars of the Posche vehicles of the model I possess in Sri Lanka.”

At what price did you purchase the Posche car?
“It cost me Rs 300 lacks, but with increased import taxes it is now worth Rs 400 lacks.”

What is your favourite dress?
“It is T-shirt and denim.”

Do you go for branded wear only?
“No,but others as well”.

Do you have a night life?
“I had those days. Now it is drastically reduced. Without drinks i do not visit clubs.”

Have you got memberships to night clubs?
“I am known to everyone, there is no problem then.”

Why is it less?
“Because of my political involvements.Then there are fewer problems. I have a terrible weakness. Even if anyone leans on to me I get quickly fired up.”

Do young boys require night clubs?
“Of course it is needed. In villagers patronise temples purely to meet girls.”

Because your father is a Minister are you tempted to have rows and fights at night clubs?
“If one attacks me I will never let go. There have been no fights initiated by me .I have only fought with those who have tried to attack me.”

As a habit do you celebrate your birthdays?
“I have been having parties. At the same time I give alms to ‘homes’.”

How much do you estimate to spend for your birthday party?
“I have never accounted for the sum I had spent. Mostly it is my father’s friends who are involved. That is the advantage of been a son of a Minister.”

Are there any disadvantage of been a Minister’s son?
‘Oh yes, there are loses”

What is your favourite hotel in Sri Lanka?
“It is cinnamon Grand hotel.”

Is there any speciality?
“I go there to play Squash. There is a pool also. In addition there are 6 to 7 other restaurants I patronise. The former place is where my friends get ‘set’.”

To be called a Minister’s son, is it a privilege?
“No there is nothing likes that to be proud of.”

What have you got to say about your father?
“Whatever the people say my father is also just another human being. He is just an ordinary person. One has to mix up with him know who he is. He is not a bad person.”

Have you heard people scolding your father?
“From my small days I have heard so. These are not new stories to me. There are conflicts. We talk about them and laugh at home.”

Are you taking to politics?
“If people plead and request me, then I will enter politics”.

What does your father say?
“I could do anything I want to do. There is absolutely no pressure on me.”

Have you ever observed ‘sil’ on a poya day?
“No. I must confess the truth. Unlike my father I cannot sit at one place like my father for long hours”.

What is your view about creating jobs in Sri Lanka?
“According to Sri Lankan standards jobs are given to a certain extent. But the problem will be resolved with time.”

Is there is an economic conflict or crisis in Sri Lanka or not?
“It is not a problem in Sri Lanka but it is a global problem. Our people think it is like a frog in the well and it is a problem that is not affecting our country only. According to my thoughts and science it is going to be worse. With time as I said earlier the matter would be resolved.”

Are you satisfied with the type of politics your father is indulged in?
“ To tell you the truth and fact for some of his acts and qualities I agree and for some I disagree”.

From which places these good and bad qualities could be divided and explained?
“In my opinion my father believes people too soon. He is a good hearted and honest person. I always advice him to understand closely the people with whom he associates. If the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha personnel come to meet him he will definitely accept them.”

Do you have a girl friend?
“Yes.”

Is it a temporary or a permanent affair?
“That of course I cannot say for certain. I had one girl friend earlier. I fervently hope this to be a permanent one.”

To how many countries you had been to?
“To about 15 countries.”

What is your favourite country?
“I like Australia. I like Asian countries where there are ‘Bali’ dances.”

Why is that?
“Australia is like home for me. Most of my friends are over there. There are nice people and good beaches.”

Is it over the Sri Lankan people?
“Yes, it is like that.”

What is your security?
“They are all private security personnel.”

How many?
“All together I have 8 security guards.”

Why do you require body guards before entering politics?
“It is for my safety and in the event of an eventuality.
